The Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) in Beijing, comprised of the Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn brands, held their third annual charity golf day for the benefit of the China Youth Development Foundation. IHG looked to Avid Golf for help:
- Drawing up and implementing a plan that would help raise funds
- Facilitating all aspects of the tournament
- Creating an environment worthy of five-star hotelier
The 2008 event returned to Tianzhu Golf Club, host of the 2008 Volvo China Open, where Avid Golf looked after the following:
- Event – Course selection and organization of a singles Peoria competition
- Signage – Tee-box A-boards on 18 holes
- Clubhouse – Registration and awards ceremony backdrops
- Photos – Framed group photo presented to each player on the day
- Teaching Pro- Organized Golf Pro to be on-site for the day
- Players – Organized registration and pairings
- Scoring - Crewed and organized scoring system
- F&B - Organized driving range lunch, on-course snacks and post-event dinner
In 2008 the Intercontinental Hotel Group Beijing raised over RMB 300,000 for their chosen charity, easily surpassing their 2007 total when they were presented with an IHG in-house award for best charity fundraiser of the year.
The 2009 event when one better yet again when IHG changed courses and moved to the Pearl Orient Golf Club. Despite a tumultuous economic climate, the event once again was able to raise a significant sum for their pet charity, Project Hope.
