McDonalds, with the support of PR and marketing company, Ketchum, turned to Avid Golf for help in organizing their first charity golf tournament in China, to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charity. In particular, they were looking for help with the following:
- Coordinate necessary arrangements with Pine Valley Golf Club
- Set up logistical elements for transporting and registering participants
- Arrange for production and set up of all branding materials
- Ensure the smooth flow of the post-event auction
Avid Golf worked closely with both McDonalds and Ketchum to put together a quality tournament with only three weeks of planning, including:
- Transportation – Arranged for golfers to be shuttled from city center and back
- Signage – Arrival signs, Tee Box A-boards and Backdrops
- Branding – RMHC branded caddie bibs, tee markers and pin flags
- Players – Organized registration and pairings
- Scoring - Crewed and organized scoring system and communications
- F&B - Organized clubhouse breakfast, on-course F&B and post-event lunch
- Auction - Provided in-house auctioneer tasked with keeping things ‘lively’
Despite a rainy October Friday, the tournament went off as planned for more than sixty golfers. In addition, with the help of a fantastic set of prizes, the auction generated more than RMB 1 million for Ronald McDonald House.
Since then, Avid Golf has organized two additional events in 2008 and 2009, and to date has helped McDonalds China raise more than RMB 3 million for Ronald McDonald House Charities
